A Guest Appearance By Alex
Monday, February 23rd, 2009
Hello everyone. Today you get to read an excerpt from the brain of Alex, the oh so wonderful boyfriend. (Also, please excuse that I have no idea how to format a blog entry)
Let me preface by saying what follows. I am a happy mixture of nerd, geek, dweeb and loser. I have had my fair share of friday nights planted firmly in front of a computer screen growing paler and more socially awkward but nothing quite beats the social stigma that belongs to the players of Dungeons And Dragons. Thankfully I, myself, am not a player but as of late my roommate is. Himself, his good friend, and other various walking stereotypes all get together regularly to engage in a world of fantasy and wonderment filled with dragons and swords and magic and all sorts of badass awesome shit like riding a freakin’ flying horse while chopping the heads off of orcs n’ shit.
But all I see when I walk past them is a half eaten box of pizza and multiple manboys sitting around a table with reference books and stats sheets yelling strange sounding compilations of words that somehow translate to fun. (It reminds me of basically the entire series of The Rugrats on Nickelodeon. Where the kids see these wonderful and adventurous journeys when all adults see is a bunch of kids in a fort made of pillows.) Its not that I feel unimaginative or even left out… oh god no I don’t feel left out.
My only qualm is that when I walk past them to get something from the kitchen they all stop and give me these stares that scream “OUT YOU OUTCAST! LEAVE OUR SOCIAL AWESOMENESS!” and I just cant help but laugh and walk away.
